Gum Branch Wastewater Outfall Replacement

Project phase

 Project updates

The Gum Branch outfall conveys wastewater flows from northwest Charlotte and northwestern Mecklenburg County. The outfall is tributary to the Long Creek wastewater basin. Due to development, population growth, and increased inflow and infiltration in the Gum Branch Basin, infrastructure is experiencing flows higher than the existing pipes can accommodate.

In order to address both the condition and capacity concerns, the project includes the construction of approximately 10,000 linear feet of gravity sewer paralleling the Gum Branch stream and extending between Belhaven Boulevard and I-485.

Properties that will be directly affected by construction will be contacted to discuss easement agreements. Areas near construction will be notified before construction.  A public meeting was held on November 29th, 2016.

Estimated cost of $4.8 million
