 Project updates

This project, organized in two phases, will build better connections for pedestrians and cyclists in the Elizabeth community.

  • Phase 1 (complete) consists of sidewalk improvements to Park Drive, a multi-use path at Independence Park, a multi-use path at Belk Plaza near Little Sugar Creek Greenway and improvements to the Charlottetowne tunnel.

  • Phase 2 (under construction) will consist of the 8th Street extension.

  • To construct a multi-use path from Little Sugar Creek Greenway to the Kings Drive underpass

  • To construct a multi-use path connecting the Charlottetowne Avenue tunnel to Park Drive

  • To construct new sidewalk on Park Drive from Seventh Street to Clement Avenue

  • To extend 8th Street from the dead-end to Bascom Avenue to improve traffic flow within the community

A public meeting was held on April 16, 2015. Residents provided input that was considered in the design process.

$1.5 million for both phases

  • $.5 million for phase 1

  • $1 million for phase 2

The Community Investment Plan approved by City Council in 2013 calls for voters to consider approval of funding for a number of infrastructure programs. Voters approved bond financing in 2014, 2016 and 2018 and will vote on further bond financing in 2020. For this project, City staff engages the community to determine the details of what will ultimately be built. Once these details are known, the cost of the project is estimated and published.
