Project phase

 Project updates

  • This Charlotte Water (CLTWater) project involves the planning, design and installation of a new transmission main generally on the west side of N.C. Highway 115, beginning from the intersection of Main and Walnut streets and ending near the Davidson Town Limits, along NC 115.
  • The new larger diameter water main will improve system pressures and hydraulics, as well as enhance fire protection.
  • Updates will be posted periodically on this website.
What do expect
  • As the design and permitting phase of work comes to a conclusion, construction is slated to begin as early in October 2020.
  • Staging of materials.
  • Large digging equipment and pipe installation.
  • Periodic temporary water service outages may take place during construction.
  • Possible temporary lane closures and detour routes as necessary.
  • Paving and site restoration after the pipe has been installed.
Schedule
  • The Design and Permitting phase is anticipated to be complete in early October 2020.
  • Construction is expected to begin in mid-October 2020.
  • The goal of this project is to provide a new larger-diameter water main in the area that will improve system pressures and hydraulics, as well as enhance fire protection. The route for the new water main will generally run just west of N.C. Highway 115, beginning from the intersection of South Main (NC-115) and Walnut streets and ending near the Iredell County line along Shearer Street.

  • During this period, it may be necessary for Charlotte Water and authorized representatives’ personnel to enter upon a limited number of residential properties to conduct surveys, examinations, appraisals, and other investigations for work on this project. Their activities should not inconvenience residents in any way, and ground personnel will provide notification in advance if access to private property is required.

To be determined.
