Jennings B. Kerr (1859-1860)
Public Service:
Kerr served two terms as Intendent. Prior to this appointment he was Charlotte's City Clerk.
Personal:
Kerr owned the Charlotte Hotel located in the first block of North Tryon Street. Today a Bank of America tower occupies the site.
During his Administration:
- War fever spread through Charlotte. Locals were torn over whether to take arms against the North.
- Abraham Lincoln was elected President of the United State in 1860.
