Connecting job-seekers with employers
Mayor Patrick Cannon has announced that job-seekers in Charlotte will have the opportunity to meet and interview with area employers at The Mayor’s Job Fair, to be held on Saturday, February 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sheraton Charlotte Hotel, 555 S. McDowell Street, Charlotte.
“Although unemployment rates have fallen, we must not take that downturn in unemployment for granted,” Mayor Cannon stated. “There are people in Charlotte who are skilled workers, but are still looking for a position. My goal is to connect people who need jobs with local companies that have jobs available right now. Employers participating in my job fair have openings to fill in entry-level and supervisory positions.”
Mayor Cannon has been working with local organizations including the Charlotte Chamber and the Hospitality and Tourism Association as part of his outreach efforts to area employers. As of today, there are 62 employers on board for the event. “I’m really appreciative of those employers who have signed-up to participate in the job fair, but we always have room for more, and I encourage other local employers to register,” Mayor Cannon added. Employer registration deadline is Wednesday, February 12th.
This event is free for job-seekers but registration is required, and they must register to participate at one of two available times. There are several ways to register for the event.
