CHARLOTTE – Mayor Dan Clodfelter joined members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9488 to commemorate the 14th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks. Mayor Clodfelter gave brief remarks in addition to ringing a bell at 8:46 am, the time when the first plane struck the World Trade Center.
About 50 veterans and friends gathered at the VFW 9488 Post at the Plaza to honor the lives impacted 14 years ago.
“Men, women, and children -- friends and neighbors, sisters and brothers, mothers and fathers, sons and daughters -- were taken from us on that day with heartbreaking swiftness and cruelty,” said Clodfelter.
“We resolve to work together to strengthen our communities and better our world in way that pays tribute to their lives and their unfinished work.”
