Mayor Dan Clodfelter joined the Charlotte Chamber’s Manufacturers Council for a tour of Max Daetwyler, a local company specializing in machining, fabrication, engineering and custom turnkey systems for companies spanning a wide variety of industries and the leading manufacturer of doctor blades for the printing industry. As part of the tour, Mayor Clodfelter discussed opportunities to connect manufacturers with the Mayor’s Youth Employment Program (MYEP).
“We must focus our attention on the next generation of Manufacturers, our young people,” said Clodfelter.
“Connecting youth to work is good for Charlotte and the surrounding communities. There’s a positive correlation between youth employment and community economic mobility.”

Several topics were discussed including:

  • The role of manufacturing in Charlotte’s economy
  • The Mayor’s Youth Employment Program which shapes tomorrows workforce
  • How manufacturers can help and get involved
  • The employer benefits of participating in the program
  • A call to action
The goal of this initiative is to empower young men and women in the community in preparation for future employment opportunities and share with them the important role of manufacturing to the Charlotte economy.
