Today Mayor Dan Clodfelter joined business leaders and elected officials as the Charlotte Regional Partnership honored the 2015 Jerry Awards winners for their significant and ongoing contributions to the regional economy. The Charlotte Hornets and Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont were celebrated during today’s event.
“As a city and a region, we continue to carefully consider every factor that contributes to a strong and growing economy,” said Clodfelter. “Part of our success comes from the recognition that there is no ‘one-size fits all’ approach to the prosperity equation.
“Each business and organization, regardless of size, model, or location can make a contribution to Charlotte’s economic prosperity. The two organizations being recognized today prove this fact.”
The Jerry Awards recognize individuals or organizations that have made significant, ongoing contributions to economic development in ‘Charlotte USA’, a 16-county region. Recipients, one public and one private, embody the regionalism of the awards’ namesakes, Jerry Richardson, founder and owner of the Carolina Panthers, and Jerry Orr, former aviation director of Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
