Charlotte Mayor Dan Clodfelter welcomed Chamber delegations from Louisville and Lexington, Kentucky to the Queen City for their 2014 Leadership expedition June 1.
The group kicked off their event in NoDa (North Davidson), Charlotte’s historic arts and entertainment district.
The last time the Kentucky chambers visited Charlotte was in 1991 for the Louisville group and 1993 for the Lexington group. Clodfelter was a city council member at the time and greeted the Lexington delegation.
Clodfelter spoke about the growth of Charlotte since the time of their last visit, noting the city’s population more than doubling. He also shared NoDa’s transformation, highlighting it as one of the revitalization success stories strengthening Charlotte’s economy over the past two decades.
“NoDa, the once forgotten North Charlotte, is now a community buzzing with excitement, attracting newcomers and current residents alike,” said Clodfelter.
The group of nearly 300 business, civic and elected leaders from Commerce Lexington Inc. and Greater Louisville Inc. spent the three days speaking with business and government leaders in Charlotte. Charlotte Chamber representatives will take a similar trip to Minneapolis, Minnesota later this year.
