Charlotte, N.C. – Joining Governor Beverly Perdue and Mitsubishi Nuclear Energy Systems’ (MNES) CEO Kiyoshi Yamauchi, Mayor Anthony Foxx commented on the firm's commitment to bring 135 energy jobs to Charlotte.
“The work required to strengthen and diversify the city's economy continues, and today's announcement is the latest step in building the nation's energy capital right here in Charlotte," Foxx said.
In announcing the new investment MNES Yamauchi cited, among other things, the business-friendly nature of North Carolina and the Charlotte region, a skilled workforce and superior higher educational offerings at UNC-Charlotte.   MNES will partner with UNC Charlotte to expand clean energy technology.
MNES received a Job Development Investment grant of $4.1M.  Mayor Foxx will remain focused on job creation in Charlotte, “Our focus continues to be growing jobs in Charlotte.”
