Project Overview

Originating from the Northeast Corridor Infrastructure Program (NECI) planning effort, this project proposes to provide a new street connection by extending McCullough Drive from North Tryon Street to the existing dead end at Ken Hoffman Drive. The conceptual cross section includes two travel lanes, planting strips, curb & gutter and sidewalk. This project is adjacent to the McCullough Drive Streetscape project on the other side of North Tryon Street.

Project Goals

  • To provide an alternate connection between W.T. Harris Boulevard and North Tryon Street
  • To promote economic development by providing infrastructure to support and encourage transit supportive development near the McCullough Drive light rail station
  • To improve pedestrian and bicycle mobility between North Tryon Street and W.T. Harris Boulevard

Public Involvement

The project team hosted numerous community meetings during the planning phase, where residents shared ideas and asked questions. This feedback informed the design and gave the team insight into the community's priorities.
