Davidson South Street Wastewater Improvements

• CLT Water and contractor Propst Construction will input a temporary access road between Cathey Street and Goodrum Street as they continue work on the project. The temporary access road will be in place from Monday, October 3rd through mid – late October.

• The South Street Phase II closure from Cathey Street to Mimosa Street is expected to remain in place until late October / early November. While the closure is in place, there will be no parking along both sides of Walnut Street from 7am – 5pm.

• CLT Water and contractor, Propst Construction, will close South Street from Cathey Street to Mimosa Street from late August to early October. During this time, there will be no parking along both sides of Walnut Street from 7am – 5pm. Those traveling in the area are advised to observe all posted traffic signage and consider alternate routes.

• As part of the Davidson South Street Wastewater Improvement Project, CLT Water and its contractor, Propst Construction, will close a portion of South Street on Monday, June 27th. Spring Street, Old Canal Street and Main Street will be available as detour routes for northbound and southbound travelers on South Street. There will be signage to show drivers the route. This closure is expected to be in place until late August.   See map here(PDF, 426KB).
• In addition to frequent mailers, residents are encouraged to sign up for text alerts. These alerts will be sent out several times each month and will give residents timely project information on what to expect during a certain timeframe. Those who sign up for alerts are also able to reply with questions they may have for the project team.

Charlotte Water will host a public meeting on Thursday, May 5th at 5:30pm to share information and answer questions about the Davidson South Street Wastewater Improvements Project.

The project team has completed the investigation & design phase of the project and expects to move into the construction phase by summer 2022. The project route will begin near the intersection of Hillside Dr. & Lorimer Rd. and will end near Davidson Elementary School. In addition, the project team will replace an aging force main beginning at Concord Rd., running north along Thompson St.

The meeting is open to the public and will start at 5:30pm. Representatives from Charlotte Water and the Design Build team will present an overview of the project, including current work underway and next steps, and they will be available to answer any questions from attendees.
