Project Overview

This project will upgrade Shamrock Drive from approximately Florida Avenue to Flamingo Avenue to create a “complete street” to better serve bicyclists, pedestrians, motorists and adjacent neighborhoods and businesses. The project will include turn lanes, sidewalks, bike lanes and crossings to help create a better bike/pedestrian connection between Eastway Drive and The Plaza and, eventually, to NoDa (North Davidson area) and the LYNX Blue Line.

The project team will be working with the Arts and Science Council and area residents to determine what art will be constructed and where it will be located along the project corridor.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Storm Water Services is partnering with the Capital Investment Plan and will fund improvements to the storm drainage infrastructure along Shamrock Drive.

Project Goals

  • Provide infrastructure, utilizing current design standards, that will provide safe travel for pedestrians, bicyclists and vehicles

  • Improve storm water runoff infrastructure that will eliminate flooding to area residents and the County Club Golf Course

  • Construct improvements that will improve traffic flow for motorists, area businesses, and surrounding schools (Shamrock Gardens Elementary and Garringer High School)
