March 17, 2025 - Construction continues for this project. Cinderella Partners and the City of Charlotte will make every effort to mitigate potential disruptions to traffic and utility services throughout the construction period.

This project will complete the remaining streetscape work that began for 16th Street Streetscape project. The streetscape project includes a two-lane roadway, bicycle lanes, planting strips, sidewalks and streetlights on 16th Street between North Tryon Street and Parkwood Avenue. The city is also working in coordination with the private developer for Optimist Hall to implement portions of the project, including the realignment of 16th Street from Parkwood Avenue to the LYNX Blue Line.
To provide safer and improved transportation options for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists on 16th Street between North Tryon Street and Parkwood Avenue
To provide aesthetic improvements for a more pleasant streetscape.
The project team held two public meetings in May 2017 and July 2018 to get feedback from residents on potential improvements in this area.
