You may have heard by now Charlotte's making updates to its zoning map. It's called alignment rezoning because the goal is to better align the zoning map with City goals and vision set by the 2040 comprehensive plan and policy map. The project will suggest changes to the current zoning map, but only where the vision and goal for a property detailed in the 2040 policy map does not match the current zoning rules for that property. Now you may ask will this impact your neighborhood? Charlotte's Zoning map is important to all neighborhoods. It applies rules that shape the look and feel of each property, but it's important to know alignment rezoning will not change the zoning of every property in the city. That means it may or may not affect your neighborhood. Only properties where rules for vision and growth don't match will receive a recommendation for change. Want to learn more?
