Unified Development Ordinance
The Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) is a set of city rules to make sure the growth of Charlotte fits the community's goals. The Charlotte UDO takes input from the public to decide how the city should grow and where the city government should focus resources. The UDO covers the following projects and development areas:
- Affordable housing.
- Parking.
- The environment.
- Public open space.
- Transportation.
- Drainage.
The Charlotte City Council voted to adopt the UDO on Aug. 22, 2022. The UDO is now effective, as of June 1, 2023. You can find out more about what the UDO includes and what's next for the City of Charlotte at the link below.
