Description
The City of Charlotte is pleased to accept proposals for the Corridors of Opportunity Creative Spaces Initiative Grant. The city will award up to $500,000 to eligible parties seeking to create studio, gallery, performance, or practice spaces within the Corridors of Opportunity. Arts and culture organizations, property owners, or businesses seeking to establish permanent workspaces for local creatives are welcome to apply.
These funds may be used to supplement rents and upfit costs for creative entrepreneur spaces located in the Corridors of Opportunity.
Objectives
- Support the establishment of affordable spaces to participate in art and culture creation.
- Revitalize underutilized spaces for artistic expression.
- Cultivate a dynamic creative community within designated Corridors of Opportunity.
Who Can Apply?
Applications are open to organizations, property owner or businesses to sustain or establish permanent studio space to artists and creative workers. Applicants should submit a comprehensive proposal outlining project scope, budget allocation, timeline and projected artist engagement. Proposals must be suitable to serve at least 10 creatives.

Timeline
- Application Deadline: Proposals must be submitted by Sept. 9, 2024.
- Virtual Q&A Session: Aug. 26, 2024 at 11 a.m. (register)
- Selection Process: Awardees will be chosen by Sept. 23, 2024.
- Funds Disbursement: Funds must be expended by December 31, 2026.
