DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES

The Department of General Services employs almost 500 people and is among the most diverse departments in the City of Charlotte organization. We deliver a broad set of services to the residents of Charlotte and to other municipal agencies. Our goal is to help build a better community for everyone who lives and works in Charlotte. Our core functions:

Design, construct, maintain and sustain capital infrastructure projects, public facilities and grounds
Provide enterprise-wide fleet and operational equipment management and maintenance to the City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County government organizations.
Administer the city's Minority, Women and Small Business Enterprises (MWSBEs) program and policies
Manage the acquisition of real estate, goods and services through competitive processes
