FACILITIES CONSTRUCTION DIVISION
The Facilities Construction Division provides administration and project management for the planning, design and construction of city-owned buildings and major renovation projects. These projects include operational facilities for police, fire, fleet, transit, street maintenance and solid waste, and city-owned cultural facilities such as Discovery Place, The Mint Museum, Blumenthal Performing Arts Center and The Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture. Facilities projects associated with Aviation and Charlotte Water are not managed by the division.
Every stage of the process is overseen by the division: consultants and contractors perform the design and construction of the buildings, and the division's project managers ensure that projects are properly managed, completed on time and within budget and meet various council-adopted policies. The division collaborates extensively with Facilities Operations and Sustainability & Resilience.
