Charlotte-Mecklenburg PrepareAthon!

Be Ready for Sudden Disasters with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency Management (CMEMO)'s PrepareAthon!

Timing is everything in emergency situations, and Charlotte-Mecklenburg residents and businesses must be ready to take appropriate action immediately.

Educating residents about what to do in an unanticipated crisis is the goal of Charlotte-Mecklenburg's PrepareAthon!, a grassroots campaign for action to increase community preparedness and resilience. This campaign runs in April each year, and is supported by the National Weather Service, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services, Charlotte Water, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD), CMPD Animal Care and Control Unit, and many others.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg PrepareAthon 2019

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency Management Office will partner with FEMA to host the Charlotte-Mecklenburg PrepareAthon. The PrepareAthon is a grassroots campaign for action to get the community better prepared for emergencies by conducting hazard-specific group, drills and exercises.

The campaign will be held from April 29th, 2019 to May 4th, 2019. The campaign will focus on educating the community and business in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg region about specific hazards such as flooding, no-notice events and other hazards.
