Charlotte-Mecklenburg Opportunity Task Force releases Leading on Opportunity report
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Opportunity Task Force convened March 27, 2017 to announce the findings of their Leading on Opportunity report on economic opportunity in the city. The Leading on Opportunity report is a set of findings and recommendations to honor the spark in all young people and ensure they have the tools and opportunities to thrive in Charlotte and Mecklenburg County.
The Opportunity Task Force call to action followed results of a Harvard University and University of California-Berkeley study that looked at the upward mobility for children living in large metropolitan areas. The report revealed that the Charlotte area ranked 50th out of the 50 largest US cities (and 97th in the 100 largest US cities).
The work of the taskforce is directly related to City Council’s Community Letter and the City’s Five Focus Areas.
