Shawn Heath Special Assistant to the City Manager
Shawn Heath is responsible for aligning and managing the city’s COVID-19 recovery and resiliency efforts. Heath works with the city’s senior leadership team to ensure city programs are supporting Charlotte’s residents and businesses with the immediate impact of the pandemic as well as expected longer-term economic issues.
Heath has deep ties to Charlotte’s philanthropic and non-profit community, having served as vice president and chief of staff for Duke Energy’s Office of the CEO and as president of the Duke Energy Foundation. As president of the Duke Energy Foundation, he led the company’s philanthropic activities and oversaw a budget of more than $30 million in charitable grants. In addition, Heath served as Duke Energy’s chief sustainability officer as well as vice president of corporate community affairs.
Heath serves on the boards of directors of Childcare Resources Inc. and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Community Foundation. He is also actively involved in numerous grassroots community engagement activities. A native of Deale, Md., Heath earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Virginia Tech. He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Yale University.
