City Council Committees

City Council Committees

City Council sets policy and provides guidance to the city manager to support smart growth, address key strategic areas and meet resident needs. The mayor appoints members of City Council to serve on various committees to receive updates on key projects and initiatives, and make policy recommendations to the full council for adoption.

The committees are aligned to develop solutions that:

  • Make neighborhoods safe, sustainable and affordable
  • Create a thriving economic climate where businesses are connected to highly skilled talent and technologies,
  • Work to help residents earn sustainable wages and benefits; and
  • Guide the growth of the city's transportation systems to connect residents from all walks of life to valuable resources and opportunities.

To meet these goals, the mayor has created five City Council committees:

Economic Development

Neighborhood Development

The newly formed Neighborhood Development Committee includes the work of three previous committees: Environment, Community Safety and Housing and Neighborhood Development.
