Shawn Heath, Assistant City Manager
Shawn Heath serves as an assistant city manager for the City of Charlotte. Heath previously served as the Director of the City of Charlotte’s Housing & Neighborhood Services Department. In that role, he was accountable for the city’s housing-related programming, community engagement, CharMeck 311 customer contact center, and code enforcement.
Heath joined the City of Charlotte in 2020 as Special Assistant to the City Manager, leading the city’s COVID-19 federal stimulus investment strategy. Prior to working for the City of Charlotte, Heath worked for Duke Energy for 18 years, serving in various leadership roles including chief of staff for Duke Energy’s Office of the CEO, president of the Duke Energy Foundation, and chief sustainability officer.
Heath currently serves on the board of directors of United Way of Greater Charlotte, and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Community Foundation. He also previously served on a number of other local boards, including Childcare Resources Inc., Project LIFT, Sustain Charlotte, and Read Charlotte.
A native of Maryland, Shawn and his wife Dede have lived in Charlotte for 25 years.
