Workday Account Setup

Why is the City of Charlotte transitioning to Workday?

The transition to Workday is designed to make the job application process more transparent and efficient for candidates. With Workday, you'll have access to a streamlined platform where you can easily apply for jobs, receive timely updates and manage your application details with greater ease.

How do I apply for jobs on the new Workday system? Will I need to create a new account?

To apply for jobs, you will need to create a new Workday account. Once logged in, you'll be directed to our main career site page, where you can search for job openings, submit applications and track the status of your applications in real-time. Creating a new account ensures that your profile and application history are up to date in the new system.

This Workday Guide for External Candidates(PDF, 1MB) provides step-by-step guidance on how an external candidate (a non-city employee) can use all features of the City of Charlotte’s Careers site in Workday. This includes how to create your candidate profile, create job alerts, find and apply for open positions, check the status of job applications once you have applied and manage current job applications.

 

Do I need to create a new Workday account if I already have one for another company?

Yes, you will need to create a new account. This account will be unique to the city and will be used exclusively for accessing our career site on Workday.

Can I still access my application history from JobAps in Workday?

No, your application history will not transfer to Workday. However, you can keep a personal record of your applications from JobAps for reference.

What happens to my current application in the old system (JobAps)?

If you have an active application in JobAps during the transition, it will continue to be processed manually. We will provide you with specific instructions on how to follow up or take any necessary actions regarding your application.

Will my job alerts from the old system carry over to Workday?

No, you will need to set up new job alerts in Workday.


General Information

I missed the deadline to apply for a position. How can I apply if the posting is closed?

If the application deadline for the position has passed, we are unable to accept late submissions. We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, and we encourage you to keep an eye on our future job postings.

How can I reapply to a job? The system is not allowing me to reapply.

Candidates are unable to reapply to the same job twice. If the position opens again in the future, you can apply at that time.

How can I update my contact information after I have submitted my application?

You can update your contact information on your profile, and it will automatically update on all your submitted applications.


Application Management and Process

How can I confirm my application was submitted and track its status in Workday?

After submitting your application, you can confirm its submission and track its status by logging into Workday and navigating to the "My Applications" section. Here, you’ll find a list of all your applications along with their current statuses.

How can I submit my updated resume after I submit my application?

Once you submit your application, you will not be able to make any changes. Make sure your resume is final before submitting.

How can I submit my references?

At this stage, we do not require letters of recommendation. All we need from you is your completed application. If additional documentation is needed, our recruiting team will contact you.

Will the interview process change with Workday?

The interview process itself will remain largely the same. However, scheduling and communication may now be managed through Workday, providing a more streamlined experience.

How will I be notified about interview invitations?

Interview invitations will be sent directly through Workday. You will receive an email notification with details and can also view the invitation in your Workday account.

I received a rejection email and would like to know why I was not selected for the position if I meet the qualifications.
