Police-Community Relations Awards

Established in 1979, the Police-Community Relations Awards program celebrates and recognizes Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) officers who are building positive, problem-solving relationships with individual residents and neighborhood groups. The annual awards program is hosted by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Community Relations Committee (CRC) and continues to have a great impact across the community as it brings awareness to the importance of everyone working together to build a safer Charlotte-Mecklenburg for all.

Nominations by community members are essential to the success of the awards program. CMPD officers or teams may be nominated by using the Police Nomination online form or by mail. Mailed nominations should be addressed to:

Mailed nominations should include include:

  • The name, phone number and email address of the person making the nomination.
  • The names of the officer or officers being nominated.
  • A concise summary highlighting why the officer(s) should be considered for the award.
  • The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department district/division where the officer(s) work.

The CRC accepts nominations throughout the year, however, any nominations submitted after March 31 will be considered for the following year’s award. Nominations will be reviewed by a group of CRC members and winners will be announced at the annual awards celebration held in May during National Police Week.
