Projects for Safe Streets and Bike Connections

A variety of bicycle projects are underway to improve the safety of all Charlotte residents interested in riding a bicycle or utilizing other micromobility options, such as electric scooters. These citywide projects include new in-street bike facilities, neighborhood bike connections, redesigned intersections, bike-pedestrian bridges and tunnels, secure bike parking, and education programs that support bicycle safety education and provide additional resources to encourage community empowerment.

Bicycle Advisory Committee

Charlotte Bicycle Advisory Committee (BAC) is comprised of 11 appointed committee members who regularly review bicycle projects and programs to provide strategic recommendations to the City Council and County Commission on implementing policies and addressing bicycle transportation issues. All BAC meetings are open to the public and your ideas are welcome.

City Bike Racks

The City of Charlotte’s Bicycle Program provides inverted-U bike racks to local businesses through the Bicycle Rack Partnership Program. Businesses operating in buildings developed prior city ordinance requirements for bike racks (2005) may be eligible to receive bike racks to install on the property to provide secure, dedicated bicycle parking.
