Jerome Woodard, Chief Operating Officer
Jerome Douglas Woodard is the chief operating officer of Charlotte Douglas International Airport, which is owned and operated by the City of Charlotte.
He oversees Airport Operations (terminal, landside and airside,) Emergency Management, Security and the Joint Operations Center.
He joined CLT's Aviation Department as the chief operating officer in 2022 after serving as the assistant general manager of Public Safety & Security at Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Previously, he worked as the CLT Aviation Department's security operations manager and assistant director of operations. As CLT's security operations manager, his responsibilities included administering the Airport's security program and leading the Airport Security Operations team. As the assistant director of operations, he assisted in leading Airport Operations, Security and Emergency Management and in developing and nurturing stakeholder relationships at the local, state and federal level.
Woodard's prior industry experience has ranged from large scale multi-million-dollar facility activations (ATL's Airport Consolidated Rental Car Facility, ATL's Maynard H. Jackson International Terminal and CLT's Concourse A North) to multiple leadership roles in Airport Public Safety & Security Operations, Airport Airside Operations, Airport Landside Operations and Airport Ground Transportation.
Woodard also has extensive experience in airport employee service delivery and enhancing operational efficiency at both the tactical and strategic levels.
Woodard has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aviation Management from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale and a Master of Business Administration from Walden University.
He is also a Certified Member (CM) and Airport Certified Employee (ACE) in both operations and security of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE).
