CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Nov. 20, 2024) – In partnership with Crosland Southeast, the city hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony today for Evoke Living at Eastland Yards, the first completed phase of the Eastland Yards redevelopment project.
“Evoke Living at Eastland Yards is more than just a housing development; it’s a symbol of Eastland’s bright future and our efforts to enhance East Charlotte,” said District 5 Council Member Marjorie Molina. “Thanks to the commitment of our partners, we’re creating a community that is inclusive and accessible. This project is a significant step forward, and we are excited about its impact on the corridor.”
Located in the Albemarle Road Corridor of Opportunity, Evoke Living at Eastland Yards includes a mix of market-rate and affordable apartments, addressing the city’s goal of providing accessible, quality housing options for Charlotte residents. All 72 units are for residents who earn 30% to 80% of the Area Medium Income (AMI). Twenty percent of the units are reserved for households with incomes of 60% or below the AMI.
“Evoke Living at Eastland Yards, a 72-unit residential community for active adults and the first completed component of our Eastland redevelopment, represents a huge milestone for this complex project,” said Tim Sittema, managing partner of Crosland Southeast. “It provides market-rate quality and amenities to our residents at rents that are affordable at a wide range of income levels. By prioritizing the delivery of this inclusive housing component, we are honoring our commitment of a truly equitable and impactful redevelopment to our partners and the broader community.”
The completion of Evoke Living at Eastland Yards represents the first milestone in the larger Eastland Yards project, a multi-phase redevelopment designed to revitalize the former Eastland Mall area. With a $97 million investment from the city and investments from Mecklenburg County, the vision for Eastland Yards includes a mix of residential, commercial and community spaces aimed at creating a vibrant, inclusive neighborhood hub.
The first residents will move in on Thursday, Nov. 21. For more information about leasing and availability, please visit the Evoke Living at Eastland Yards website.
