CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Sept. 8, 2023) – The Corridors Connect Community Activation Grant offers funding to neighborhood groups and local nonprofit organizations within the Corridors of Opportunity to help program and activate Corridors Connect routes. Grant recipients will be awarded $500 for eligible expenses associated with programming activities. Applications are open through Friday, Sept. 15, or until funds are exhausted, whichever comes first.
Corridors Connect is a collaboration of the city’s Corridors of Opportunity initiative, and the city and Mecklenburg County’s Open Streets 704 program that encourages community-wide opportunities for connectivity, health and wellness, celebration of community, and equitable investment through multiple events in all six corridors.
The city will provide a one-time, $500 grant to neighborhood organizations, merchant associations, or coalition for eligible items paid September through November 2023. Grant applications must be approved before the organization makes any expenses. Funds must be used for neighborhood/nonprofit purposes. Multiple activities may be funded within one application. Eligible expenses include:
- Youth Programming.
- Wellness and fitness classes.
- Pop-ups and interactive stalls.
- Neighborhood history projects.
- Interactive displays.
Funds will be dispersed after the day the approved programming occurs.
Applicants are encouraged to be creative and inclusive to inspire participation from a diverse audience. Contact Aisha Abdus-Sabur with Housing and Neighborhood Services to confirm eligibility for projects not listed above.
