City Issues $2.7M for Corridors of Opportunity Workforce Development

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (June 26, 2023) – The City of Charlotte will issue $2.76 million in grants to support non-profit organizations and institutions of higher education seeking to expand their workforce and small business support programs to a Corridor of Opportunity.
To be eligible for the Corridors of Opportunity Business Opportunity Hub Grant Program, applicants must be a:
- Non-profit organization/501(c)3.
- Academic institution.
- Chamber of Commerce/501(c)6.
Programming must promote:
- Economic mobility.
- Progression along a career pathway.
- Skill development.
- Small business growth and development.
Funds may be used for the expansion of programs, services and physical space within one of the Corridors of Opportunity. Physical space should serve as a place to connect entrepreneurs and residents to resources and opportunities. The minimum grant award is $200,000 per organization.
The application process opens today at noon and closes at 5 p.m. on Aug. 4.
Grants will be awarded in September 2023. Two Q&A sessions will be held for interested applicants. An in-person Q&A will be held at 9 a.m. on July 11 at the Government Center. A second Q&A session via Zoom will be held at 9 a.m. on July 14. Applicants must attend at least one Q&A session to apply.
