Charlotte Rallies Behind USA Field Hockey Team in Olympic Send-Off

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (July 9, 2024) – The City of Charlotte will come alive with Olympic spirit as it hosts a grand pep rally to send off the U.S. Olympic Women’s Field Hockey Team to the Paris 2024 Olympics. The event is scheduled for Saturday, July 13, from 1-2:30 p.m. at Providence Day School, promising a celebration of athletic excellence and civic pride.
Charlotte is home to both the Men’s and Women’s USA Field Hockey National Teams and has been instrumental in shaping these world-class athletes. The pep rally offers a unique opportunity for the community to show their support and wish the team success on the international stage.
"These remarkable athletes embody the spirit of Charlotte - determination, teamwork, and excellence," said Mayor Vi Lyles. "We're immensely proud to send them off to Paris, knowing they carry the hopes and dreams of our city with them."
The team’s journey to the Olympics represents years of dedication and hard work, much of it witnessed by the local community.

Amanda Golini, team captain, expressed the team's gratitude: "The support from Charlotte has been incredible. This city has become our second home, and we're honored to represent both Charlotte and the USA on the world stage."
The pep rally serves as a fundraiser for the team’s expenses to Paris for the 2024 Summer Olympics, with tickets priced at $24 per person. Tickets are available for purchase on the USA Field Hockey Foundation’s Eventbrite page. Attendees are encouraged to wear red, white and blue to show their support.
