Wild on the Water
A Pollinator Week Event
Wild on the Water is Charlotte Wildlife Steward's signature fundraising event. It's a guided paddle of kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddleboards (SUPs) on Mountain Island Lake at Latta Nature Preserve. We paddle out to one of the many osprey platforms where a local naturalist talks about the ospreys and other wildlife, the plants, and the importance of this part of the Catawba River. Following the paddle we have a delicious lunch and a fun raffle full of valuable prizes. In celebration of Pollinator Week, Charlotte Wildlife Stewards will donate a pollinator garden to anyone who pledges $1,000 or more!
A limited number of kayaks and canoes are available on a first-come, first-served basis or you can bring your own. Registration for reserved boats cuts off when the limit is reached. If paddling is not your thing, you can support us by volunteering for traffic control, event set-up, unloading/loading canoes and kayaks, lunch and raffle set-up, and clean-up.
