Virtual Rezoning Meeting for CMPD Animal Care & Control Expansion

Next date: Tuesday, September 10, 2024 | 06:30 PM to 07:30 PM

The project team will provide an overview of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) Animal Care and Control Expansion project. The design is currently in the advanced planning phase.

Pending approval of the rezoning process, the city will build a new facility at 5400 South Tryon Street to support CMPD’s Animal Care and Control program. The existing facility at 8315 Byrum Drive recently completed a notable renovation but is not large enough to support the unhoused animal population of Charlotte. This new facility will provide additional capacity, a public adoption center and accommodate future growth.

There will be a brief Q&A after the presentation. A recording of the meeting will be posted on the project webpage.
