Crime Statistical Summary for the End of Year 2015:
CMPD ended 2015, with a 9.9% increase in Index Offenses compared to last year. Property crime increased by 8.6% while violent crime increased by 18.2%.
- 60 homicides were reported compared to 44, resulting in an increase of 36.4%.
- 1949 robberies were reported compared to 1589, resulting in an increase of 22.7%.
- 286 rapes were reported compared to 256, resulting in an increase of 11.7%.
- 3735 aggravated assaults were reported compared to 3213, resulting in an increase of 16.2%.
- Burglary overall was up 12%, (6798 compared to 6071) with an increase of 11.2% in residential (4973 compared to 4474) and an increase of 14.3% in commercial cases (1825 compared to 1597).
- 2230 vehicle thefts were reported compared to 1690, resulting in an increase of 32%.
- Total larceny cases increased by 5.8% (24084 compared to 22774) with the larcenies from auto up by 14.3% (9199 compared to 8047).
- 224 arson cases were reported compared to 168, resulting in an increase of 33.3%.

- CMPD ended 2015, 7.8% above the 3 year average in Index Offenses. Property crime exceeded the three year average by 6.3% while violent crime exceeded it by 16.6%.
- Homicides exceeded the three year average by 22.4%. 60 homicides were reported as of the end of 2015 compared to the three year average of 49.
- 1949 robberies were reported compared to the three year average of 1731; robbery exceeded the three year average by 12.6%.
- 286 rapes were reported compared to the three year average of 263; rape exceeded the three year average by 8.7%.
- 3735 aggravated assaults were reported compared to the three year average of 3126; aggravated assaults exceeded the three year average by 19.5%.
- Burglary overall exceeded the three year average by 0.6% (6798 compared to 6757) with residential cases below the three year average by -2.9% (4973 compared to 5123) while commercial cases exceeded the three year average by 11.7% (1825 compared to 1634).
- 2230 vehicle thefts were reported compared to the three year average of 1900.Vehicle thefts exceeded the three year average by 17.4%.
- Total larceny cases exceeded the three year average by 7.0% (24084 compared to 22502) with the larcenies from auto exceeding the average by 14.2% (9199 compared to 8055).
- 224 arson cases were reported compared to the three year average of 193. Arson exceeded the three year average by 16.1%.

- Stolen property is four times more likely to be recovered if serial numbers are provided
- Vehicle Theft
- At least 10% of vehicle thefts involved keys left in ignition (210 out of 2101)
- At least 8% of vehicle thefts involved keys stored in vehicle (160 out of 2101)
- Theft from Vehicle
- 35% of theft from vehicle incidents involved unlocked vehicles
- 65% of incidents involving thefts from unlocked vehicles occurred at a residential location
- 376 theft from vehicle incidents involved stolen firearms
