CATS Selects Winning Artwork to be Featured on 2025 Transit Passes
Charlotte, N.C. – The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) is announcing the winners of its annual Transit Pass Design Contest, whose artwork will be printed on Local, Express and Express Plus monthly passes for the 2025 calendar year.
First place: Brigette Rogers – Local Monthly Pass
Second place: Priscilla MacClamrock – Express Monthly Pass
Third place: Nicole Driscoll – Express Plus Monthly Pass
CATS asked North and South Carolina residents to submit original artwork with the theme: Safe Travels! Entries were judged and first, second and third place winners were selected by a committee of transit staff members and local art professionals based on the following criteria:
1) Does the design address the theme and promote multi-modal transportation in Charlotte in specific or general terms?
2) Is the design eye-catching and well-composed?
3) Is text absent from the design?
“Living in the Queen City, I've always felt safe riding the light rail,” first place winner Brigette Rogers said when asked what inspired her illustration of the Queen’s Carriage. “I thought about queens, and other royalty, always having a security team to protect the crown. That's when I thought of this version of Queen Charlotte. There's no worry for the crown while she's on her commute. All she has to do is hang tight and enjoy the ride, knowing that CATS provides safe travels for everyone.”
