CATS Announces Fare-Free Service for Customer Appreciation and Try Transit Week

Charlotte, N.C. — The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) is excited to provide fare-free transportation on CATS services from Oct. 6-12 in celebration of Customer Appreciation and Try Transit Week.

“We look forward to celebrating our dedicated riders who make our system successful as well as inviting new community members to experience the ease and accessibility of public transit in our region,”
said Interim CEO Brent Cagle.

CATS is also marking the launch of CATS Works for You, a community campaign that highlights the tactical ways we are building a transit system that is sustainable, inclusive, innovative, and responsive to the needs of our region. To demonstrate the organization’s renewed commitment to enhancing the public transit experience for communities across the greater region, CATS is hosting several engaging events throughout the week for passengers and community members alike.

Daily activities include:

  • Monday, Oct. 7: STS+ Mint Hill Launch Event  

     

  • Tuesday, Oct. 8: Coffee on CATS

     

  • Wednesday, Oct. 9: The System Goes Social

     

  • Thursday, Oct. 10: Red Line Public Engagement Event

     

  • Friday, Oct. 11: Surprise Squad

     

  • Saturday, Oct. 12: Family Fun with Transit

To highlight the importance of the community using public transit, community members can also enter to win free fare for a year through the CATS-Pass App.
