Fill out the Vanpool form and a vanpool coordinator will guide you through the process. If you are interested in joining a current vanpool, you can view the current list for available seats. You can also reach out to a Vanpool coordinator via email at vanpools@charlottenc.gov
You will need a minimum of four passengers.
One person must agree to be the primary driver and one person must agree to be the backup driver.
Drivers will need to fill out a Vanpool application(PDF, 13KB).
Our Insurance and Risk Management Division must approve each driver's application. Once approved, a Vanpool Lease Agreement must be signed. To review all of the terms and conditions in the agreement, review the Vanpool agreement(DOC, 306KB).
Drivers should review the Vanpool Drivers Manual (PDF, 205KB)thoroughly to fully understand the requirements of becoming a driver.
Each vanpool has technology that provides valuable information about the vanpool commutes, allowing CATS to identify potential fuel savings, unsafe driver behavior, and opportunities to be more environmentally friendly.

Provide custom flyers for distribution at your job, neighborhood, church, etc., regarding forming a vanpool.
Conduct transportation fairs at your job to educate others about forming a vanpool.
