Urban Design

New development or redevelopment in areas that are zoned Uptown Mixed Use District (UMUD), Mixed Use Development District (MUDD), Transit Oriented Development (TOD), Pedestrian Overlay (PED), and Transit Supportive Overlay (TS) must go through an Urban Review process prior to obtaining building permits. Charlotte Urban Design coordinates with other City departments to review development plans to ensure projects comply with applicable zoning and development regulations and design policies.
