***UPDATE*** University City Division - Homicide investigation on WT Harris Boulevard

Case Update: Friday, June 08, 2018,

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit have charged Demahj Wright DOB: 4/19/1997, Oyontai Bostic DOB: 8/15/1998, and Demetrey Leake DOB: 11/30/1997 with the murder of Tevin Javonte Snow. 

Earlier this evening, CMPD Homicide detectives were able to locate and arrest all 3 suspects.  They were transported to CMPD Police Headquarters where they were interviewed.  At the conclusion of those interviews they were turned over to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sherriff's Office.

This is an ongoing, active investigation.  As further information develops it will be released by CMPD Public Affairs.

Case Update: Tuesday, June 05, 2018,

The victim, Tevin Javonte Snow DOB 5/4/1993, was pronounced deceased this morning. His family has been notified of his death.

Case update: Monday, June 04, 2018,

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are requesting the public's assistance in locating a vehicle of interest in this case and any information about the occupants of that car.  The vehicle was last seen on June 4th around 11:20 a.m. traveling east on WT Harris Blvd.  It is believed that it may be a grey Honda Crosstour and is pictured in the photograph below.

Monday, June 04, 2018,

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 1000 block of W WT Harris Boulevard in the University City Division.  The call for service came in at 11:19 a.m. on Monday, June 04, 2018. 

University City Division Officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service.  Upon their arrival, officers located a male inside a vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound.  The victim was transported to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. 

At this time, detectives believe that the victim was inside a vehicle when the suspect shot into the vehicle.  As a result of being shot, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a guardrail.  No other injuries to civilians were reported.

Detectives with the Homicide Unit responded to the scene and are interviewing witnesses to this incident. 

Crime Scene Search has responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Real Time Crime Center, and Operations Command responded to the scene.
