Charlotte, N.C. (Jan. 30, 2018) — Recent heavy rain and wind caused a large mature oak tree in the City right-of-way to fall in the Kilborne Acres Neighborhood Tuesday morning. The tree fell near the intersection of Kilborne Drive and Markham Court, a few blocks off Eastway Drive. The intersection will remain partially blocked overnight as crews from Duke Energy continue to repair power lines in the area. There is limited access for vehicles to pass around the tree debris.

Federal safety regulations prevent City tree crews from working near downed utility lines. Tree crews will return to the site Wednesday morning to start clearing the roadway.

Call 911 to report trees that threaten safety or property or that block major roadways and access for emergency services.
