***UPDATE*** Steele Creek Division - Homicide on Carolina Forest Road

Case Update: Wednesday, June 13, 2018,

Earlier this week detectives went before the Mecklenburg County Grand Jury who indicted Marvin Chevez-Quiffaro, born 12/25/1999, on the charge of Murder. He was located and arrested this morning by VCAT. Chavez-Quiffaro will be transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County jail. 

This is an ongoing, active investigation.  As further information develops it will be released by CMPD Public Affairs.

Case Update: Monday, June 04, 2018,

During the course of this investigation, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide Detectives developed information regarding the identities of the suspects in this case.   Jalen Boulware, DOB: 6/22/1999, and Marvin Chavez-Quiffaro DOB: 12/25/1999, both voluntarily came to the CMPD Police Headquarters were they were interviewed   Following these interviews they were arrested for their involvement in the death of Terale Claridy-Vaught and turned over to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Jail.  Boulware has been charged with Murder and Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Property.  Chavez-Quiffaro has been charged with Accessory After the Fact to Murder.

Case Update: Monday, June 04, 2018,

The victim in this case has been identified as Terale Claridy-Vaught, DOB: 02/11/2000.  His family has been notified of his death.

Monday, June 4, 2018, 

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 14400 block of Carolina Forest Road in the Steele Creek Division. 

Steele Creek officers were investigating a shooting into occupied dwelling call for service in the 14300 block of Carolina Forest Road. The call for service came in at 10:28 p.m., on Sunday, June 3, 2018.  As officers were on scene, shots were fired nearby.  A male victim was located with apparent gunshot wounds in the roadway on Carolina Forest Road.  He was pronounced deceased on scene. The victim's identity will be released pending family notification.  Members of the SWAT Team were activated and responded to the scene, set up a perimeter and continued to search for the suspect. 

Homicide Detectives are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any witnesses to this incident. 

Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, Victim Services, K9 Unit, Aviation Unit, SWAT, Victim's Assistance, Real Time Crime, NCSHP and Operations Command responded to the scene.
