On Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 3:20 p.m. officers with the Steele Creek Division responded to a larceny of a motor vehicle incident in the 5500 block of Westpark Drive. The victim observed the suspect, later identified as Romell Mackey, inside the business acting suspicious and possibly getting ready to commit a larceny. Mr. Mackey left the store and after a few minutes the victim went out to find his vehicle was gone.
Surveillance footage recorded the incident and showed Mr. Mackey enter the store and go behind the counter where employees have personal possessions. A short time later, Mr. Mackey exited the store and entered victim's silver 2005 Infiniti G35 and stole it. Romell Mackey (10/24/1995) was charged with larceny of vehicle.
On Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 8:31 p.m. officers with the Steele Creek Division responded to an armed robbery incident in the 1200 block of Archdale Drive.
The victim advised that he was on Archdale Drive selling ice cream when he was approached by two black males. He observed one of the males armed with a pistol. The male demanded his money and cell phone. The victim reported that he was then thrown to the ground and assaulted multiple times by the suspects resulting in visible injury. As a result of the incident the suspects stole money and a cell phone from the victim. The suspects were last seen running from the incident location into the parking lot of 6400 Old Pineville Rd.
Surveillance footage was obtained from the businesses located in the 6400 block of Old Pineville Rd. The timeframe and description matched two male subjects running from the incident location. One suspect was identified as Romell Mackey who was wearing the same clothing in reference to 20180703-1520-02. Mr. Fontaine was later identified as the second suspect.
Both Wesley Fontaine (10/26/1996) and Romell Mackey (10/24/1995) were charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit a robbery with a dangerous weapon.
On Saturday July 7, 2018, Steele Creek Division Officers located a stolen vehicle in the 7000 block of Nations Ford Rd. The vehicle was occupied by two individuals, Ariel Harrison and Wesley Fontaine. Steele Creek Detectives responded to interview these individuals about the stolen vehicle and as a result, Ariel Harrison (10/26/1996) was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and carrying a concealed weapon. In addition, he was also charged with several outstanding warrants. Wesley Fontaine (10/26/1996) was arrested on several outstanding warrants. He was also charged with the incident above on July 3, 2018.
