Update: City continues storm response

​CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Jan. 23, 2016) - City departments continue to respond to inclement weather and remind the community of impacted services.  

Emergency Management

Nothing new to report this afternoon.  A new weather update will be provided Sunday morning. 

Charlotte Department of Transportation (CDOT)

Sidewalks

The Charlotte Department of Transportation's priority is clearing uptown streets and sidewalks. Five crews (three contracted, two City Landscape Management) are working in the area around the Bank of America Stadium in addition to CDOT Street Maintenance crews. This is in anticipation of heavy pedestrian traffic Sunday related to the Panthers' football game.

CATS buses

Bus service continues to improve. Ten bus routes have been removed from the detour list.  

CMPD

Updated numbers from today (Jan. 23) midnight – 4 p.m.

·        Accidents with Property Damage (on and off roadway): 28 incidents

·        Accidents with Injury: 8 incidents

·        Disabled Vehicles: 31 

Charlotte  Douglas International Airport

Airlines serving CLT resumed limited operations around the noon hour on Saturday, Jan. 23. It will be limited operations for most of the day. Passengers are advised to check their flight status with their airline and encouraged to remain at home if their flight has been canceled.

Calls received from 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.:

·        1,992 calls entered the 311 menu

·        439  Routed to Charlotte Water IVR

·        649 callers heard the messaging regarding Solid Waste Services operations and hung up.

·        904 calls were handled by 311 CSRs 

 

Solid Waste Services (SWS)

Solid Waste Services will be suspending collections until Monday, Jan. 25. Thursday and Friday customers who did not have trash collected the week will be collected on Monday, Jan. 25. SWS will operate on a one-day delay the week of Jan. 25 – Jan. 29, with Friday customers receiving collection service on Saturday, Jan. 30.
