Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Armed Robbery Unit are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects involved in the robbery and kidnapping of a pizza delivery driver.
On Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at approximately 2:30 a.m., South Division Patrol Officers responded to a Papa John’s Pizza Restaurant in the 1600 block of E. 4th Street in reference to a possible kidnapping incident. Upon arrival officers were advised that one of the delivery drivers had not returned from a delivery after several hours. Officers located the victim’s unoccupied vehicle in the 200 block of Baldwin Avenue. During the course of the investigation officers were notified by the Archdale Police Department who advised that the victim was located in their jurisdiction unharmed.
Additional information gathered indicated that the victim was delivering pizza when he was approached by two suspects in a vehicle who pointed a gun at him and forced him to get into the vehicle. They then drove him to an ATM where they withdrew funds from the victim’s bank account and stole additional property from the victim. The suspects then let the victim out of the vehicle and fled in an unknown direction of travel.
Detectives are asking for assistance in identifying the male suspect, pictured below, who is described as a black male in his mid-20’s, and approximately 5’9” in height. The second suspect is a black female.
As additional information becomes available it will be released by CMPD Public Affairs.
