***UPDATE*** North Tryon Division - Homicide on Perth Court

Case Update:  Sunday, May 13, 2018,

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit have charged Primitivo Jonathan Carreto, DOB: 05/05/1999, Chadwick Jerome Pearson, DOB: 10/01/1999, and two 15-year-old male juvenile for their involvement in this case. 

On May, 12, 2018, North Tryon Division Officers and members from the SWAT Team located and arrested Carreto, Pearson and a 15-year-old juvenile at a residence in the 2200 block of Lanecrest Drive.  All three suspects were then transported to police headquarters where they were interviewed by homicide detectives. 

Earlier this morning, members from the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team along with North Tryon Division Officers located and arrested the second 15-year-old juvenile suspect on Perth Court.  This suspect was transported to police headquarters and interviewed.  

At the conclusion of the interviews, Pearson was charged with Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Attempted Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Shooting into Occupied Property, Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon, and Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury.  Carreto was charged with Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Attempted Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.  Both of these suspect were then transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.

Both of the 15-year-old male juveniles were each charged with Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Attempted Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, and transported to a juvenile detention facility.

The victim in this case has been identified as Gavino Miguel Romero, DOB: 7/17/1998.

Saturday, May 12, 2018,

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 4600 block of Perth Court in the North Tryon Division.  The call for service came in at 12:34 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018. 

North Tryon Division Officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service.  Upon their arrival, officers located two males with apparent gunshot wounds.   One victim was pronounced deceased on scene.  The second victim was transported to Carolinas Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.  The third occupant was not injured.  The deceased victim's identity will be released pending family notification. 

At this time, detectives believe that three victims were inside a vehicle when the suspects shot into the vehicle.  As a result of being shot, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a porch.  No other injuries to civilians were reported.

Officers on scene developed information on a possible location on Lanecrest Drive for the armed suspects and immediately established a perimeter around the residence.  Members of the SWAT Team and Negotiators were activated and responded to the scene, and attempted to make contact with the suspects. 

After a brief standoff, the subjects inside the residence surrendered and were taken into custody and transported to police headquarters where they will be interviewed.

Detectives with the Homicide Unit responded to the scene and are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any witnesses to this incident. 

Crime Scene Search has responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence. 

Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, Victim Services, SWAT, K9, and Operations Command responded to the scene.
