Case Update:  Sunday, April 08, 2018

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit have charged a 16-year-old female for her involvement in this case.

On April 7, 2018, the fourth suspect, 16 year-old Ziaya Chanel Jackson, 11/20/2001, turned herself into the Mecklenburg County Jail.  Jackson was served with warrants for Murder and Robbery with Dangerous Weapon in connection to this case.

Case Update:  Thursday, April 5, 2018,

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit have charged a 15-year-old male juvenile for his involvement in this case.

Information and evidence gathered during the course of the homicide investigation led Homicide Detectives in identifying the 15-year-old suspect.  Homicide Detectives located the juvenile suspect at his residence and subsequently transported him to police headquarters, where he was interviewed by detectives.  Detectives obtained a secure custody order against the juvenile and transported him to a juvenile detention facility.  The suspect is charged with Murder and Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.  His name is not being released due to his age.

Case Update:  Wednesday, April 04, 2018,

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit have charged A'vone Williams, DOB: 02/28/2001, for his involvement in this case. 

During the investigation, detectives identified Williams as a suspect in this case and obtained warrants for his arrest.  Earlier this evening, detectives with the Priority Offender Unit located and arrested Williams and transported him to police headquarters where he is currently being interviewed.  At the conclusion of the interview, Williams will be charged with Murder and Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.

Case Update:  Wednesday, April 04, 2018,

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit have charged Antonio Darnell Shine, DOB: 10/12/1998, for his involvement in this case. 

During the investigation, detectives identified Shine as a suspect in this case and obtained warrants for his arrest.  Earlier this morning, detectives with the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team located and arrested Shine and transported him to police headquarters where he is currently being interviewed.  At the conclusion of the interview, Shine will be charged with Murder and Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office. 

Detectives are still searching for the second suspect involved in this case.

Case update: Tuesday, April 03, 2018,

The victim in this case has been identified as Maria Eduvigig Echeverria de Gomez, H/F, DOB: 01/10/1982.  Her family has been notified of her death.

Tuesday, April 3, 2018,

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 6200 block of Barrington Drive in the North Tryon Division.  The call for service came in at 6:15 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2018. 

North Tryon Division Officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service on Barrington Drive.  Upon arrival, officers located a female victim who had apparent gunshot injury.  The female victim was transported to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.  She was pronounced deceased a short time later at the hospital by medical staff.  The female victim's identity will be released pending family notification. 

Detectives with the Homicide Unit have responded to the scene to conduct the investigation and are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any witnesses to this incident. 

Initial information gathered at the scene indicates that this was an armed robbery where two black males robbed and shot the victim before fleeing the scene in a black sedan.  The suspects were last seen driving on Barrington Drive towards Milton Road.   

Crime Scene Search has responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence. 

Representatives of the Victim Services, CD-CP and Operations Command responded to the scene.
