On May 20, 2018 at 12:31 a.m., Metro Division officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of N. Graham Street for a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle call for service. Upon officers arrival they located an unconscious black male lying in the road. MEDIC transported the subject to Carolinas Medical Center-main with life-threatening injuries. The vehicle failed to stop or return to the scene.

The evidence shows the pedestrian was crossing in a portion of the roadway that is not marked for pedestrian crossing and was struck in the left northbound lane of travel. The suspect vehicle was last seen traveling north on N. Graham Street.

It does not appear that speed is a factor in this case. It is unknown if alcohol played a role for the driver.

Witnesses stated the suspect vehicle is possibly a silver sedan.

This case is being investigated by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Departments Major Crash Investigation Unit, any witnesses are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 or Detective Steve Williams at 704-432-2169.
