On February 29, 2016, at 4:14 p.m., Westover Division patrol officers responded to a single vehicle accident in the 3400 block of Archer Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim inside of a 2015 Ford F-150 suffering from life-threatening injuries. Medic arrived and transported the male driver to Carolinas Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased a short time later. The victim has been identified as James Herbert Nash, DOB: 03/09/1957. His family has been notified of his death.

The initial investigation indicates that Mr. Nash was traveling southbound on Archer Avenue when his vehicle was driven off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree. Speed and alcohol are not suspected. At this time it appears the driver suffered a medical incident, which lead to the crash.

Detectives are still actively investigating this incident. Anyone with information about this crash is asked to contact Detective Reibold with the CMPD Major Crash Investigation Unit at 704-336-2678 or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600
