Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Independence Division have charged Denardis Kilgo, DOB: 08/20/1980, and Eric Thortsen, DOB: 03/17/1967, for their involvement in this robbery.
On Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at 6:45 p.m., Independence Division Officers responded to a robbery call for service at Cricket, located at 7309 E. Independence Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers were advised that a suspect entered the Cricket store and used physical force to steal two cellphones from the victim business. The suspect then fled the scene in a pick-up truck being operated by a second suspect. (CMPD report number 20180515184500.
During the investigation, detectives identified Kilgo as the suspect who entered the business and Thortsen as the suspect who was driving the getaway pick-up truck. Detectives obtained warrants for their arrest and requested assistance in locating these wanted suspects.
On May 17, 2018, officers from the Waxhaw Police Department located and arrested Thortsen without incident. Thortsen was then transported to the Independence Division where he was interviewed by detectives. At the conclusion of the interview, Thortsen was charged with Common Law Robbery and Felony Conspiracy and transported to the Mecklenburg County Intake Center.
Early this morning, officers with the Matthews Police Department arrested Kilgo, who was subsequently charged with Common Law Robbery.
